ATM Loot Attempt Fails

An audacious attempt to loot an ATM in Ghatikia, under the capital city of Bhubaneswar, failed when the machine’s siren went off, forcing the robbers to flee.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 3 am. A group of 4–5 masked men arrived in a suspicious vehicle and first tried to break open the ATM kiosk to steal cash. When they failed, they attempted to uproot the entire machine using gas cutters and other equipment.

At that moment, the ATM’s in-built siren activated. Moreover, the alarm triggered an alert in the bank’s master control room. Hearing the loud siren, the robbers panicked, abandoned the machine, and escaped at high speed.

Following the incident, the ATM was shut down and marked out of order for security reasons. The Canada Bank authorities immediately lodged a complaint at the local police station.

Police reached the spot and began an investigation. Furthermore, officers are reviewing nearby CCTV footage, which reportedly captured images of the suspects and their vehicle. A special team has launched raids at multiple locations to track down the gang.

The failed loot attempt created fear among local residents. However, many praised the ATM’s security system, noting that the siren prevented a major theft.

Police officials stated that the incident appears to be the work of an organised gang. Consequently, they are linking the case with similar recent incidents and expanding the investigation.
