India enjoyed a productive second day at the Asian Games 2026, adding four medals to its tally in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Shooting once again led India’s medal charge, with the men’s 10m air rifle event producing three podium finishes across the team and individual competitions. Suchika Tariyal also secured a historic bronze in women’s traditional 60kg mixed martial arts.
Shooting delivers three more medals
India’s men’s 10m air rifle team of Himanshu Dhillon, Parth Mane and Rudrankksh Patil won silver in the team event.
The individual final then brought another double podium finish for India. Himanshu Dhillon won silver, while Rudrankksh Patil claimed bronze. China’s Sheng Lihao took the gold.
The results took India’s shooting medal tally to five after the country’s two silver medals on the opening day. NDTV’s updated medal table showed India on three silver and three total medals at the point of its latest tally update, before the later Day 2 results were reflected.
Suchika Tariyal settles for historic MMA bronze
India also secured a medal in mixed martial arts through Suchika Tariyal, who won bronze in the women’s traditional 60kg category.
Tariyal’s semifinal against Singapore’s Teo Hui Hoon ended in a draw after an official protest and arbitration review. Under the competition rules, the tied bout was decided on body weight, with the lighter fighter progressing to the final. Tariyal therefore received the bronze medal.
The result marks a significant moment for India’s MMA campaign at the Asian Games.
India dominate in women’s hockey
India’s women’s hockey team continued its strong start with a 17-1 win over Indonesia in Pool B.
The victory was India’s second consecutive win in the group stage after its emphatic opening result, strengthening the team’s position in the competition.
Women’s table tennis team advances
India’s women’s table tennis team also produced a strong performance, defeating Pakistan 3-0 in their Group F encounter.
The victory saw India finish as group winners and advance to the quarter-finals.
Badminton campaign gets underway
India’s men’s badminton team began its Asian Games campaign against Bangladesh in the team event.
Lakshya Sen got India off to a strong start, defeating Ayman Ibn Jaman 21-4, 21-12 in the opening match.
Kabaddi team begins with convincing win
India also made a winning start in men’s kabaddi, defeating Japan 49-24 in their Group A clash.
The Indian side built a substantial lead during the match and eventually secured a comfortable victory.
India’s medal tally continues to grow
With shooting again producing multiple medals, India has made a strong start to the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
The opening day had already produced two silver medals for India, including Elavenil Valarivan’s individual silver and another silver in the women’s 10m air rifle team event.
Day 2 has now added further medals, with shooting and MMA providing the biggest highlights while Indian teams also made progress across hockey, table tennis, kabaddi and badminton.
