The Indian Army marked the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack with a strong message reaffirming its commitment to fight terrorism.
In a post on X, the Army declared, “For acts against India, the response is assured. Justice will be served. Always.”
The statement recalled Operation Mahadev and emphasised that Operation Sindoor continues, signalling India’s firm security posture. The Army’s message came as the nation remembered the April 22, 2025, attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where Pakistan-backed terrorists killed 26 civilians.
Families of victims continue to struggle with the aftermath. The wife of Prasanta Kumar Satapathy, one of those killed, said financial assistance was provided, but promised employment support remains pending. She urged authorities to fulfil commitments made to families.
Following the attack, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, destroying nine terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Over 100 terrorists were killed in coordinated strikes. The operation triggered a brief conflict before a ceasefire was reached on May 10.
Operation Mahadev followed, targeting perpetrators of the Baisaran carnage. Special Forces tracked terrorists across 300 kilometres over 93 days. On July 28, 2025, PARA teams neutralised all three attackers after a stealth approach through difficult terrain.
