Authorities in Odisha extended school holidays in Kendrapara and Sundargarh districts as the heatwave continues to intensify across the state.
In Kendrapara, the District Education Officer announced that all schools from Class 1 to Class 12 will remain closed from April 23 to April 25. The decision aims to protect students from rising temperatures. Examinations will continue as per the pre-scheduled timetable, with schools instructed to conduct them during early morning hours.
Similarly, Sundargarh district declared holidays for all schools from April 23 to April 27. Officials said the move follows the state’s advisory to safeguard students amid soaring heat conditions.
The heatwave has disrupted normal life across Odisha, with temperatures crossing 40°C in several districts. Education authorities have urged schools to ensure adequate hydration and ventilation once classes resume.
