The Odisha state government has initiated a significant reshuffle among senior Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officers, signalling a strategic move to strengthen administrative efficiency across key departments.
This overhaul, announced through a notification issued by the General Administration Department on Friday, includes pivotal appointments in the Information and Public Relations Department, the health sector, and other administrative roles.
In a prominent change, Anuj Kumar Das Pattanaik, previously serving as the State Nodal Officer for PM Poshan and MM Poshan, has been appointed as the Director of the Information and Public Relations Department. He replaces Debprasad Dash, who had been holding the additional charge of the department since April 22, 2025. Das Pattnayak’s appointment is expected to bring fresh perspectives to the state’s public communication and media management strategies.
Also, Surendra Kumar Panda, formerly the Special Secretary in the Health Department, has been reassigned as the State Nodal Officer for PM Poshan and MM Poshan, taking over from Das Pattanaik. This transition underscores the government’s focus on strengthening nutritional programs, aligning with national priorities for health and child welfare.
In another notable appointment, Mitali Patra, a former Tehsildar of Tangi in Khordha district and a recent addition to the General Administration Department, has been appointed as the Administrative Officer for the CDM and PHO office in Baripada, Mayurbhanj district.
Ajay Kumar Pradhan has been named the Project Administrator (PA) for the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) in Gunupur. Additionally, Yudhishthir Meher, previously the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Boudh, has been appointed as the Registrar of the Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology in Sarang, reflecting the government’s intent to strengthen academic administration.
This reshuffle is seen as part of the state’s broader efforts to optimise administrative functions and align officer expertise with departmental needs.
The appointments, effective immediately, are expected to streamline operations and enhance governance across these critical sectors.
