An Ama Bus crashed into a motorcyclist near Jaydev Vihar–Acharya Vihar Road in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, injuring a young rider.
Witnesses reported that the bus struck the bike from behind, leading to chaos at the accident site.
Police from Sahid Nagar reached the spot promptly and managed to calm the agitated crowd. The injured youth was taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Locals expressed frustration over recurring accidents involving Ama Buses in the capital city.
Earlier this month, an Ama Bus accident between Vani Vihar and Sat Sang Vihar claimed a life when another motorcyclist was hit from behind. The incident triggered public outrage, with residents blocking nearly eight Ama Buses on the National Highway, demanding compensation. The protest ended after intervention by Bhubaneswar DCP.
Similar accidents have occurred recently in Cuttack and Sambalpur, where Ama Buses injured commuters, including a woman who sustained serious injuries. The frequency of such incidents has raised concerns about road safety and bus management in urban areas.
Authorities are expected to review safety measures and enforce stricter monitoring of public transport operations to prevent further mishaps.
