Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional centre here has issued heavy rainfall alert in several districts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.
According to IMD’s latest bulletin, “Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.”
Besides, Heavy rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Koraput and Kandhamal, said the weather agency.
On the other hand, rainfall activity is likely to increase in Odisha from October 1 as a cyclonic circulation is likely to emerge into northeast and adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal around that date, it added.
People in these districts have been advised to move to safe places accordingly.
