Air travel on several domestic routes may experience temporary delays as airlines begin implementing a new technical directive issued by Airbus for its global A320 family fleet.
India’s major carriers, Air India and IndiGo, announced on Saturday through their official X handles that passengers may encounter minor schedule adjustments while mandatory updates are carried out on their aircraft.
Air India Begins Software and Hardware Updates
Air India confirmed it is complying with an Airbus directive that requires software and hardware realignment on part of its A320 fleet. The airline noted that the update process may increase turnaround times, potentially leading to delays on select flights.
The carrier apologised for any inconvenience caused and assured passengers that the upgrades are essential for enhancing operational reliability.
Air India recently completed the retrofit programme for its legacy A320neo aircraft, returning the last upgraded aircraft to service with modernised cabin interiors. The airline now operates over 100 aircraft from the A320 family following fresh deliveries and fleet integration after the Vistara merger.
IndiGo Prioritises Safety During Technical Checks
IndiGo, which operates one of the largest A320 fleets in the world, reiterated that passenger safety remains its highest priority. The airline said it is proactively conducting all required technical checks and updates while strictly following Airbus guidelines.
IndiGo added that some flights may see slight timing changes as a precautionary measure.
Passengers Advised to Check Flight Status
Travellers have been urged to check the latest flight status before heading to the airport, as airlines work to complete the updates with minimal disruption.
