Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday announced that every Monday will be exclusively dedicated to public grievance redressal across the state, reinforcing his government’s commitment to transparent, responsive, and citizen-centric governance.

The announcement was made during the 77th Republic Day state-level celebrations at Barabati Stadium, where the Chief Minister unfurled the national flag amid patriotic fervour, cultural performances, and ceremonial parades.

Grievance Redressal Made a Governance Priority

Addressing the gathering, Majhi said senior officers—from the state headquarters to district administrations—will prioritize hearing public grievances every Monday, except in cases of unavoidable high-level meetings.

“A clean, efficient, transparent, sensitive, and corruption-free administration is essential for effective governance. I have emphasized this from day one,” the Chief Minister said.

He highlighted that administrative reforms have already enabled citizens to access over 400 government services online, allowing people to avail services from their homes without procedural hurdles.

Direct Engagement With Citizens

Underscoring the importance of public outreach, Majhi revealed that he has personally interacted with over 50,000 citizens through grievance redressal programmes, resolving nearly 15,000 grievances with a success rate of 95%.

He added that recent public grievance hearings led to the inclusion of over 24,000 beneficiaries under the Subhadra Yojana, calling it clear evidence that the government is working “for the people and with the people.”

Administrative Reforms and Employment Push

The Chief Minister announced the rollout of a 15-point administrative reform programme aimed at making governance more agile, efficient, and service-oriented, ensuring faster delivery of quality public services.

On employment, Majhi said nearly 40,000 government appointments have already been completed, and the government is on track to achieve its target of 1.5 lakh recruitments within five years. He described the coming period as the “Years of Opportunities” for Odisha’s youth across government and private sectors.

Strong Stand Against Corruption

Reaffirming the government’s zero-tolerance approach to corruption, Majhi praised the Odisha Vigilance Department, stating that it has emerged as one of the best in the country with a conviction rate exceeding 50% against corrupt officials.

“Corrupt officials are now counting their days in fear,” the Chief Minister asserted, signalling continued strict action against wrongdoing.
