Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke and student leader Neha Bora were detained by the Delhi Police on Friday as authorities moved to block the party’s planned ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ demonstrations.
Dipke was intercepted while heading toward Connaught Place, while Bora was detained shortly after beginning her march from Mandi House.
The protests, scheduled for 5 PM, were strongly opposed by Delhi Police, who cited severe risks to public safety, traffic disruption, and potential hardships for commuters and local traders.
As Dipke stepped onto the street from his lodging, police personnel stopped and escorted him into a vehicle. According to reports, officials informed Dipke that he was under preventive detention due to prohibitory orders under Section 163 enforced across Connaught Place.
Dipke contested the action, maintaining that he had broken no laws and asking authorities to provide an alternative venue. The CJP had organised the rallies to demand the release of detained party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, who remain in judicial custody following a barricade breach at Jantar Mantar.
