AAP leader Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi was shot dead in Mamdot town of Punjab’s border district Ferozepur on Sunday evening after armed assailants allegedly chased his motorcycle and opened fire from a car.
The incident occurred around 7:45 pm when Gopi and another man were riding a motorcycle. According to police, the attackers pursued them in a car before opening fire. Gopi sustained multiple bullet injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Ferozepur, where doctors declared him dead.
Following the shooting, DSP Ferozepur Rural Karan Kumar Sharma reached the spot with a heavy police force. Authorities have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from cameras installed in and around Mamdot to establish the sequence of events and identify the attackers.
The killing has sent shockwaves through the region, raising concerns about law and order in Punjab’s sensitive border district. Police officials assured that every angle is being probed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
