A PCR-6 team in Bhubaneswar displayed remarkable courage and professional judgment while apprehending a truck driver involved in a midnight road incident at Gangua Nala bridge under Mancheswar Police Station.
The team, comprising Constable Kongress Nahak, OAPF personnel Pradeep Kanhar, and Home Guard Anil Sahu, quickly assessed the situation. They realised that directly intercepting the speeding truck could endanger their lives and those of other road users. Instead, they devised a tactical plan to stop the vehicle safely.
The PCR team overtook the truck without alerting the driver and coordinated with another Hyva truck to block the road near Mother’s Public School under Pahal Police Station limits. This manoeuvre created artificial congestion, forcing the truck to halt. The PCR team immediately apprehended the driver and seized the vehicle.
The accused, identified as Jagamohan Bhukta of Boudh district, admitted during interrogation that he fled out of fear of public assault after the accident and dragged the car along the road. Breath analyser tests confirmed he was not under the influence of alcohol.
Fortunately, the occupants of the car survived without major injuries. Police confirmed that an FIR is being registered, and the accused will be arrested and forwarded to court.
Officials praised the PCR team’s prompt response, sound judgment, and bravery, noting that their actions prevented further danger and ensured the safe capture of the accused.
