Public darshan at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri will remain suspended for four hours on Wednesday due to the scheduled Banakalagi ritual.
According to the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, devotees will not be allowed darshan of Lord Jagannath and the other deities from 6 PM to 10 PM.
Why Will Darshan Remain Closed?
The temporary suspension has been scheduled to facilitate the Banakalagi ritual, an important temple ceremony that is performed after the completion of the second Bhogamandap ritual.
During Banakalagi, the faces of the deities are given special decoration and adornment. Since the ritual is performed as a confidential temple ceremony, public darshan remains closed during the proceedings.
When Will Darshan Resume?
Public darshan will resume after the Banakalagi ritual is completed and the temple administration reopens the designated areas for devotees.
The temple administration has advised devotees planning to visit the shrine on Wednesday to keep the four-hour closure in mind while planning their visit.
The temporary restriction is part of the temple’s regular ritual arrangements and is intended to allow the ceremony to be conducted without interruption.
