Bolangir district has seen a troubling surge in heinous crimes, with several murder cases reported in recent days.

In a shocking incident, a man from Antarla village, under Deogaon Police Station, killed his wife with an axe after a domestic dispute.

The accused, Goutam Biswal, frequently caused disturbances at home due to his alcohol addiction. Today, in an intoxicated state, he attacked his wife, Amulya Biswal (40), leading to her death. Following the crime, the neighbors alerted the police, and Goutam surrendered to the authorities.

The police have seized the body for post-mortem and are interrogating the accused. SDPO Saroj Upadhyay and Deogaon IIC Bulu Munda have visited the crime scene and launched a thorough investigation into the incident.
