A tragic accident on the Kalyansinghpur-Therubali road in Rayagada district resulted in the death of a 12-year-old boy, Kisan Kadra.
The collision between a bus and an axle vehicle near Raut Paridiguda Nuasahi has left the community in shock.
Kisan Kadra, hailing from Patabandh village, was traveling with Nabin Tadika for a religious visit to Jagannathpur. The incident occurred when the bus (OD-EL-5565, named Hanuman) stopped to pick up passengers and, upon resuming, was overtaken by the bike. The rider of the bike lost control on loose soil caused by ongoing pipeline work, leading to the boy falling under the bus wheels and succumbing to his injuries.
Following the incident, angry villagers and family members blocked the road, demanding compensation for the loss. Police officer Nilakantha Dehera intervened and successfully negotiated with the crowd to remove the blockade. A settlement was reached between the bus owner and the deceased boy’s family, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination.
A case has been registered, and further investigations are underway to ensure justice for the grieving family, according to police sources.
