India began Day 6 of the Asian Games 2026 with a silver medal from Roshibina Devi in the women’s 60kg Sanda Wushu category.
Roshibina lost to China’s Xiaoyu Zhang in the final but secured her third consecutive Asian Games medal. She had won bronze at the 2018 Asian Games and silver at the 2023 edition.
Her latest medal also makes her the first Indian Wushu athlete to win three Asian Games medals.
Zhang defeated Roshibina 10-0 after winning both rounds of the final.
Satnam Singh, Salman Khan Win Historic Rowing Bronze
Earlier, Satnam Singh and Salman Khan won bronze in the men’s double sculls final, giving India its first-ever Asian Games medal in the men’s double sculls event.
The Indian pair clocked 6:13.25 to finish third at the Nagaragawa International Regatta Course.
China’s Yi Xudi and Yide Nie won gold in 6:09.37, while Uzbekistan’s Pavel Sorin and Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov claimed silver in 6:10.49.
Satnam and Salman remained in second position until the 1,500-metre mark before being overtaken by the Uzbek pair during the final 500 metres.
India Miss Out on Shooting Medal
India narrowly missed another medal in the men’s 10m air pistol team event.
The Indian trio of Akash Bharadwaj, Kamaljeet and Kedarling Balakrishna Uchaganve finished fourth with 1,727 points, three points behind Japan, which secured bronze with 1,730.
China and South Korea took the gold and silver medals respectively.
Skeet Mixed Team Reaches Final
India’s Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal qualified for the mixed team skeet final after finishing fourth in qualification with 138 points.
They will compete against Qatar, South Korea and China for a medal.
Strong Start for Indian Table Tennis
India enjoyed a successful morning in table tennis, recording three wins across women’s doubles and men’s singles.
Manush Shah defeated Malaysia’s Shen Qi Wong 4-0 in the men’s singles, winning 11-9, 14-12, 11-7 and 11-4.
In women’s doubles, Sreeja Akula and Syndrela Das defeated Mongolia’s Bolor-erdene Batmunkh and Burenjargal Sanjaa 3-0.
Earlier, Diya Chitale and Yashaswini Ghorpade also registered a 3-0 win over Iran’s Setayesh Iloukhani and Mahshid Ashtari.
Indian Fencers Reach Knockouts
India’s Bhavani Devi and Shreya Gupta progressed to the knockout stages of the women’s fencing competition.
Bhavani finished fourth in Pool 4, while Shreya finished third in Pool 2.
Shreya received a bye into the Round of 16, where she will face South Korea’s Jeon Ha-young. Bhavani will take on Mongolia’s Oulen Tugsjargan in the Round of 32.
Bhavani, India’s first-ever Olympic fencer, had earlier lost 1-5 to South Korea’s Jeongmi Kim before recovering to beat Kazakhstan’s Aigerim Sarybay 5-4.
India Advance in Squash Mixed Doubles
The all-Indian Round of 16 clash in mixed doubles ended with Joshana Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar defeating compatriots Suraj Chand and Shameena Riaz 11-7, 11-10.
The win sent Chinappa and Senthilkumar into the quarter-finals.
Athletics Campaign Underway
India’s athletics campaign also got underway on Day 6.
In the women’s heptathlon, Anamika Aneesh Kozhinjaparambil finished last in her 100m hurdles heat with a timing of 14.80 seconds, while Pooja Sharma clocked 14.61 seconds in her heat.
Anamika later bounced back in the high jump with a 1.74m effort, earning 903 points and moving to sixth in the overall standings. Pooja cleared 1.71m for 867 points and stood ninth.
India also reached the final of the mixed 4x400m relay after the quartet of Jay Kumar, Manu Thekkinalil Saji, Rashdeep Kaur and Ansa Babu finished second in their heat in 3:16.23.
The final is scheduled for 6:45 pm IST.
