The Water Resources Department has intensified night patrolling and field-level vigilance at strategic locations across Odisha in view of the Deep Depression and associated rainfall.

Engineering officers and field staff are maintaining close watch over critical water infrastructure, including barrages, rivers, sluices and flood protection structures, as part of the precautionary measures.

Night Patrolling at Sorada Reservoir

As part of the ongoing monitoring, the Assistant Engineer of Sorada Section-I, along with field staff, conducted night patrolling at the Padma Barrage of Sorada Reservoir.

The barrage gates were operated to regulate incoming water and divert it towards the reservoir as required.

Vigilance Along Vansadhara River

Staff of the Gunupur Irrigation Sub-Division also undertook night patrolling at multiple locations along the Vansadhara River.

The monitored locations included areas near Sananadi Bridge, the CWC Gauge Station, Haldia Sluice and Ktwalguda village.

Night patrolling was also carried out near Haldia Sluice as part of continuous monitoring of the river and associated structures.

Rushikulya Flood Bank Under Surveillance

In addition, field teams undertook night patrolling along the Left Flood Bank (LFB) of the Rushikulya River.

The surveillance is aimed at closely monitoring river conditions and ensuring the safety of flood protection infrastructure during the period of increased rainfall.

24×7 Monitoring Across the State

Through these field-level measures, the Water Resources Department is maintaining 24×7 vigilance over rivers and critical water infrastructure.

Engineering personnel and field staff are continuing to monitor water levels and structural conditions at strategic locations to facilitate timely response to any emerging situation.
