A shocking incident unfolded in Raurkela’s Trinath Colony under Lathikata police limits, where a man allegedly pushed his friend to death from the top of an under-construction water tank following a dispute over a woman.
The deceased has been identified as Abhishek Mallick, while the accused is his friend Kuna Das. According to preliminary reports, the two were consuming alcohol at the site on Wednesday night. Both men were reportedly involved with the same woman, and tensions escalated when it appeared she favoured Abhishek.
During the heated altercation atop the tank, Kuna allegedly pushed Abhishek, causing him to fall fatally. Abhishek sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. Kuna initially attempted to portray the death as accidental, but police investigations revealed otherwise.
Lathikata police arrested Kuna Das and have launched a detailed probe to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the crime. The incident has sparked shock in the locality, highlighting the tragic consequences of personal disputes spiralling into violence.
