A serious crime has rocked the Bharatpur police station area of Bhubaneswar, where a 27‑year‑old woman was allegedly raped by her neighbour inside her rented house late at night.
According to police sources, the accused youth entered the victim’s residence and attacked her after forcing entry. The woman, employed in a private company, was living in a rented accommodation where the accused also resided nearby.
Following a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, Bharatpur police swiftly arrested the accused. The survivor has been sent to Capital Hospital for medical examination, where her physical and psychological condition is being assessed.
Police have initiated a detailed investigation, with a scientific team collecting evidence from the crime scene. Officials confirmed that the accused will be produced before the court after medical and legal formalities.
