A shocking incident unfolded in Sambalpur, Odisha, on Saturday night when a 40-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband over suspicions of an extramarital affair.
The deceased, identified as Heena Begum, was attacked near Sen Park by her husband Syed Samsad Ali following a heated argument. According to Additional SP Ajay Mishra, Syed suspected Heena of having an illicit relationship with another man.
During the altercation, Syed allegedly stabbed Heena with a knife and then struck her head with a paver block, killing her on the spot. Following the crime, Syed surrendered at the Town Police Station and confessed.
Police have seized the knife and paver block used in the attack. A detailed investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and motive behind the murder.
The incident has sparked concern in the locality, highlighting the rising number of domestic disputes turning violent.
