On a night steeped in devotion, Odisha’s political leadership set aside official files and gathered in prayer.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, accompanied by his consort, attended the Janmashtami celebrations held at the official residence of Housing and Urban Development and Public Enterprises Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra.
The sacred occasion marking the birth of Lord Krishna brought together a galaxy of dignitaries. Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Minister Suresh Pujari, Odisha Legislative Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy, BJP State President Manmohan Samal and several other leaders joined the host in offering prayers.
The atmosphere was one of quiet reverence rather than spectacle. Lamps flickered, hymns filled the air, and the gathering sought divine blessings for the people of Odisha — for peace, prosperity, good health and social harmony.
Addressing those present, Chief Minister Majhi drew a direct line between faith and public duty. “The divine life of Lord Krishna and the eternal message of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita inspire us to walk on the path of truth, righteousness, duty and integrity,” he said. “On this sacred occasion of Janmashtami, let us rededicate ourselves to our duties and resolve to further strengthen peace, harmony and brotherhood in society. May the blessings of Lord Krishna bring greater prosperity, peace and development to Odisha.”
The Chief Minister also extended warm greetings to every citizen of the state, wishing them happiness, peace and well-being on the auspicious day.
Those present prayed that Lord Krishna’s teachings — compassion, service, justice and righteous conduct — would continue to guide society. The evening closed on a note of shared devotion, with greetings exchanged among leaders and devotees alike.
In a state where culture and governance often walk side by side, the celebration served as a reminder that even those in high office pause to seek higher guidance — and to rededicate themselves to the people they serve.
