Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday attended the 137th edition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat programme, organised at the Sri Balunkeswar Mahadev Peeth premises in Nayapalli.

After watching the broadcast, the Chief Minister said Odisha received significant attention in the programme. He noted that the Prime Minister placed before the nation the state’s history, natural environment, art and the efforts of Odias in bringing change across sectors. That spotlight, he said, would encourage people to contribute to nation-building. The CM also thanked the Prime Minister for highlighting Odisha.

Majhi described Mann Ki Baat as an inexhaustible source of inspiration for nation-building and youth power. He said the Prime Minister’s words, actions and ideas were dedicated to building the nation and that recognising young talent motivated them to become partners in a developed India.

The programme featured Odisha’s heritage and people’s strength. A listener from Mumbai, Krishna Seshadri, responding to the Prime Minister, expressed a wish to converse with historical figures such as Queen Tribhubana Mahadevi of Odisha’s famous Bhaumakara dynasty. The Chief Minister said this had helped revive Odisha’s glorious history at the national level.

The programme also highlighted Maithili Bhue of Dhodrokusum village near Debrigarh Sanctuary. Once dependent on the forest, she is now linked with eco-tourism and forest protection. Inspired by her, about 60 women have taken up similar self-reliance work. The CM said such stories of rural women in environment protection and self-reliance had become an example for all.

Majhi added that many young people who overcome challenges and succeed in different fields often remain unnoticed nationally. By presenting their dedication, sacrifice and success before the country, the Prime Minister was creating new enthusiasm and inspiration for society.

Calling for collective effort towards an Atmanirbhar and developed India, the Chief Minister urged all citizens to move forward on the path of development and self-reliance shown by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
