Additional Chief Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, Usha Padhee, today chaired a review meeting at the 3rd Floor Conference Hall, Kharabela Bhawan, to review the preparations for the State-level celebration of Local Self-Government Day, scheduled to be observed on August 31, 2026.
ACS Padhee reviewed the overall preparedness for the State-level celebration and took an agenda-wise assessment of the planned programmes and arrangements. She reviewed the ceremonial proceedings, public inaugurations, civic initiatives, venue arrangements, public participation and other logistical requirements associated with the observance.
Emphasising that Local Self-Government Day is an important occasion to highlight the role and achievements of Urban Local Bodies in delivering citizen-centric services and promoting inclusive urban development, the ACS called upon officials to ensure meticulous planning and coordinated execution of all programmes.
She directed the concerned officers to remain fully prepared and ensure that every aspect of the celebration is executed smoothly and with due attention to detail. She also stressed the importance of effective inter-departmental coordination and timely completion of all preparatory activities.
The ACS further reviewed the arrangements being made by ULBs across the State for the statewide observance of LSG Day. She advised officials to ensure active citizen participation and effective public outreach so that the significance of local self-government and its contribution to urban development reaches citizens across Odisha.
The meeting was attended by Director of Municipal Administration Arindam Dakua, Special Secretaries Gangadhar Nayak, Binaya Kumar Dash and Sikha Biswal, Additional Secretaries Subananda Mohapatra, Suvendu Kumar Sahu, Rabindra Sahu and Sourindra Routray, along with other senior officials of the Housing & Urban Development Department.
The meeting concluded with a review of the final administrative, logistical and public outreach arrangements, with directions for coordinated efforts to ensure the successful and dignified observance of Local Self-Government Day across Odisha on August 31st.
