A three‑member delegation from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) met Additional Chief Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, Smt. Usha Padhee at Kharavela Bhawan today to discuss preparations for the upcoming 19th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference & Exhibition 2026, scheduled in Bhubaneswar from October 23 to 25.
The national flagship event will bring together policymakers, transport experts, administrators, industry leaders, and academicians from India and abroad to deliberate on emerging challenges and opportunities in urban mobility. The conference will be held on the theme “Urban Accessibility and Livability in Digital Age”, focusing on sustainable, inclusive, technology‑enabled, and climate‑resilient transport solutions.
Smt. Padhee emphasised the State Government’s commitment to ensuring a well‑coordinated and impactful conference, highlighting Odisha’s transformative journey in modern public transport, electrification, non‑motorised initiatives, smart infrastructure, and multimodal connectivity.
The meeting covered venue arrangements, technical sessions, exhibition pavilions, accommodation, delegate movement, safety, security, and site visits. Officials also discussed integrating Odisha’s best practices into the sessions to showcase citizen‑centric mobility solutions.
Both sides agreed on joint coordination mechanisms and working teams to ensure timely completion of logistical and technical arrangements. The conference is expected to provide Odisha with a significant national and international platform to showcase its urban mobility initiatives while facilitating knowledge exchange on sustainable and livable cities.
