Ahead of the 80th Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2026, a full dress rehearsal for the state‑level parade was conducted at Mahatma Gandhi Marg.
Nearly 51 contingents, including police units, school students, and various groups, participated in the rehearsal. The Commissionerate Police enforced traffic restrictions from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM, with heavy vehicles barred and only pedestrians allowed in the parade zone. Similar restrictions will be in place on Saturday.
Final preparations for the flag‑hoisting ceremony are underway, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi scheduled to unfurl the tricolour on August 15. Authorities are ensuring all arrangements are in place for the grand state‑level event.
