Traffic Advisory Issued for Independence Day 2026 Parade in Bhubaneswar

The Bhubaneswar–Kataka Commissionerate Police has announced a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the State‑Level Independence Day Parade 2026, outlining restrictions and diversions on Mahatma Gandhi Marg and nearby roads during rehearsals and the main celebration.


According to the notification, restrictions will be enforced on August 11 and 12 (2:30 PM – 6 PM), August 13 (8:30 AM – 11:30 AM), and August 15 (from 6 AM until completion of the parade). The measures aim to ensure smooth movement and security during the rehearsals and the Independence Day event.

🚦 Key Restrictions

  • Heavy vehicles barred from Master Canteen Square from both Ram Mandir and Rajmahal sides.
  • Two‑wheelers and light vehicles from Rajmahal may move toward Ram Mandir via Master Canteen Square, but not toward PMG Square until the event concludes.
  • Vehicles from Housing Board toward Rabindra Mandap diverted at Keshari Talkies Crossing.
  • Traffic from AG Square toward PMG Square diverted at Jaydev Bhawan Square toward IDCOL Auditorium.
  • Vehicles from 120 Battalion Square redirected toward Unit‑IV at MLA Colony Crossing.
  • All lanes touching Mahatma Gandhi Marg sealed for vehicles; only pedestrians permitted.

🅿️ Designated Parking Areas

  1. BDA Bus Stand near Railway Station
  2. Open space in front of Congress Bhawan
  3. Open space in front of IDCOL Auditorium
  4. Open space in front of Jaydev Bhawan
  5. Open space in front of SBI, Unit‑III
  6. Open space inside Rabindra Mandap
  7. Unit‑II Girls’ High School Ground

The Commissionerate has urged citizens to plan their travel routes in advance and cooperate with traffic personnel to ensure a safe and orderly celebration of India’s Independence Day 2026.
