Comedian Pranit More has announced his return to stand-up comedy with a new special titled Ghayal, months after facing backlash over the controversial ₹370 biryani incident.
While many fans welcomed his comeback, others drew comparisons with comedian Samay Raina’s return following the India’s Got Latent controversy.
Pranit shared the first poster of Ghayal on Instagram on Wednesday and described the show as a reflection of his personal journey after the controversy.
“GHAYAL. I can’t change what happened, but I can choose who I become because of it. Ghayal is the story of that journey. Beginning in Mumbai,” he wrote.
Internet Compares ‘Ghayal’ To Samay Raina’s Comeback
Soon after the announcement, social media users began comparing Pranit’s comeback with Samay Raina’s stand-up special Still Alive, which was released after the India’s Got Latent controversy.
Several users felt the tone and messaging were similar.

Pranit laughed at the exchange and described it as “Peak Gurgaon content,” triggering widespread criticism online.
The viral clip sparked debates around misogyny, consent and the responsibility of comedians during live audience interactions.
Pranit later apologised publicly, admitting he should not have laughed at or encouraged the remarks.
Legal Scrutiny Followed The Viral Clip
The controversy extended beyond social media.
The Maharashtra Cyber Police registered an FIR over the alleged misogynistic remarks, while the National Commission for Women (NCW) took suo motu cognisance of the incident.

The comparisons stem from Samay Raina’s own comeback after the controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent in 2025.
The comedian had temporarily stepped away from the spotlight after backlash over remarks made during an episode of the show. He later returned with his stand-up special Still Alive, where he spoke about the emotional impact of the controversy before announcing the return of India’s Got Latent.
With Ghayal, Pranit More appears to be taking a similar route by turning his personal experiences into material for his next stand-up performance.
