A cattle-laden pickup truck lost balance and rammed into a shop in Kibekanga village under Kundai police limits of Raighar block, Nabarangpur district, early this morning.
Police sources confirmed that the vehicle, bearing registration number CG 05AQ 3841, was transporting cattle from Dhamtari in Chhattisgarh to Raighar. Local residents rushed to the spot and rescued the cattle safely. The driver fled immediately after the accident. Police seized the vehicle along with the cattle and launched an investigation. Officials from the Animal Resources Department were called to examine the condition of the rescued cattle.
Authorities stated that the accident likely occurred due to overspeeding. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as the incident happened in the early morning hours when the shop was closed.
Police have begun inquiries to determine the purpose of transporting the cattle and are tracing the absconding driver. The investigation will reveal whether the transport was legal or linked to smuggling activities.
