Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has named its squad for the three‑day practice match against India, beginning August 7 at NCC Grounds. Sonal Dinusha, 25, will captain the side that features seven players from the recent Test squad.
Dinusha, who debuted last year against Bangladesh, has played three Tests, scoring 186 runs with a top score of 92 and taking six wickets. In first‑class cricket, he boasts 3,698 runs and 133 wickets, including seven five‑wicket hauls.
The Sri Lanka XI includes Nishan Madushka, Ravindu Rashantha, Pasindu Sooriyabandara, Pavan Rathnayake, Ahan Wickramasinghe, Anjala Bandara (wk), Nipun Dananjaya, Lahiru Kumara, Vishwa Fernando, Asanka Manoj, Isitha Wijesundara, Ramesh Mendis, Kesara Nuwantha, and Dilum Sudeera — both Nuwantha and Sudeera impressed against India A in Galle with five‑wicket hauls.
India’s squad for the Sri Lanka tour is led by Shubman Gill (c) and KL Rahul (vc), featuring Rishabh Pant (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, and several uncapped players including Auqib Nabi and Saransh Jain. Sai Sudharsan’s participation remains doubtful due to fitness concerns.
The warm‑up fixture will serve as a key tune‑up ahead of the two‑Test series, with Ravindra Jadeja’s return to competitive cricket adding extra intrigue.
