A tragic road accident near Gadaposh–Manapali under Bamara block claimed the life of BSF constable Sonu Minj, who succumbed to injuries while under treatment.
Gobindpur police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
According to reports, Sonu Minj, serving with the 127 Battalion of BSF in Kupwara, Jammu & Kashmir, had returned home on leave. On August 1 around 9 pm, he lost control of his motorcycle on the Gadaposh–Manapali road and sustained severe injuries. He was rushed to a private hospital in Rourkela, where he passed away on August 2 at around 6:30 pm.
His mortal remains were laid to rest with full national honours at his native village Gomaradihi under Kutra police limits in Sundargarh district. BSF officials, local administration, public representatives, and hundreds of villagers attended the funeral, paying heartfelt tributes to the fallen soldier.
Sonu’s mother, Sarita Minj, informed BSF authorities via email about the incident, requesting initiation of official procedures. Gobindpur police have begun legal formalities and continued their probe. The untimely death of the young jawan has cast a pall of grief across the region.
