Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today briefed the media at Lok Seva Bhawan after returning from his three‑day Delhi visit, describing the Mahanadi water dispute meeting chaired by Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil as “highly significant” for Odisha’s interests.

Majhi said the meeting, attended by Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai, was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, focusing on a mutually acceptable solution to the long‑standing inter‑state water issue. He emphasised that Odisha’s stance prioritises the rights of its people, the welfare of farmers, and environmental protection.

The Chief Minister revealed that a technical committee under the Central Water Commission Chairman will submit its report to the Mahanadi Tribunal within three months, paving the way for a lasting resolution. “We are optimistic that by Diwali, a positive outcome will emerge — it will be auspicious for Odisha,” Majhi said.

During his Delhi visit, Majhi also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, NITI Aayog officials, and PM’s Economic Advisory Council member Prof. K.V. Raju to discuss various state development priorities.
