The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, has issued a warning for fishermen along the Odisha coast, urging them not to venture into the sea between July 27 and July 29 due to adverse weather conditions.
According to the IMD bulletin, squally winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, are expected to prevail along and off the Odisha coast during this period. The sea condition is likely to remain rough to very rough, prompting authorities to advise those already at sea to return to shore and coastal residents to remain alert.
Meanwhile, a deep depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal–North Odisha coasts has been moving slowly northwards at 3 kmph over the past six hours. It is expected to skirt Sagar Island and cross the coast between Balasore and Canning, close to Haldia, later today.
