Puri MP Sambit Patra announced that his WhatsApp number was hacked, warning people not to trust messages demanding money.
He confirmed the incident himself and urged caution.
Patra said that after the hack, several messages were sent from his account asking for money. He requested the public to ignore such messages and avoid falling victim to fraud.
The MP stated that he has already informed police about the matter. Authorities are investigating the hack and tracking the source of the fraudulent activity.
Patra’s appeal comes as cybercrime cases involving social media and messaging platforms continue to rise. He emphasised that no financial requests should be trusted if they appear to come from his hacked number.
