England continues its strong start in the World Cup qualifying campaign, comfortably beating Latvia 3-0 at Wembley on Monday.

The match saw Reece James and Eberechi Eze scoring their first senior international goals under the leadership of coach Thomas Tuchel, marking two wins out of two in Group K.

Chelsea’s James broke the deadlock with a sublime free kick in the 38th minute, making his first England start since 2022. Captain Harry Kane extended England’s lead in the 68th minute with a tap-in from Declan Rice’s pass. Eze came off the bench to showcase an impressive performance, capping it with a deflected goal in the 76th minute. England tops the group on six points, ahead of Albania and Latvia.

Meanwhile, Ghana took a significant stride towards qualifying for the 2026 World Cup with a commanding 3-0 win against Madagascar. Thomas Partey’s two headers and Mohammed Kudus’ goal cemented Ghana’s dominance in Group I. With 15 points from six games, Ghana looks well-positioned for a spot in the tournament.

Other notable performances included Burkina Faso’s Lassina Traore scoring twice in a 2-1 victory over Guinea-Bissau, while Ivory Coast edged Gambia 1-0 to reclaim the top spot in Group F. Tunisia’s late heroics ensured a 2-0 win against Malawi despite playing against 10 men.

These results underscore the thrilling intensity of the World Cup qualifiers as teams vie for a coveted spot in the 48-team global event set to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico next year.
