In a powerful display of unwavering devotion, the nine sacred donation boxes (hundis) at the famous Shakti Peeth of Maa Majhighariani in Rayagada were opened on Monday after a five-month gap, yielding a magnificent collection of more than Rs 1.22 crore in cash along with gold and silver ornaments.
The counting began at 9 AM under tight security arranged by the Temple Management Committee, Magistrate, and police. Endowment Department Inspector Pushpita Behera supervised the entire process.
Odisha Grameen Bank officials, temple volunteers, and over 300 enthusiastic devotees were present to witness the transparent counting.
What Came Out of the Hundis
- Cash: Rs 1,22,29,723
- Gold: 32 grams
- Silver: 1 kg 300 grams
- UPI + Foreign Currency: Rs 3,57,231
This collection is significantly higher than the previous opening on January 19, 2026, which had fetched Rs 1.05 crore in cash along with 30 grams of gold and 2.15 kg of silver. Temple authorities confirmed that the hundis are usually opened 3–4 times a year, and this time the offerings clearly reflected the growing faith of Maa’s devotees.
Stringent security arrangements ensured the entire exercise was conducted smoothly without any untoward incident. Once the counting was completed, the entire amount — cash, gold, and silver — was safely deposited in the Odisha Grameen Bank.
The impressive haul once again proved that Maa Majhighariani continues to be the spiritual anchor of Rayagada, drawing thousands of devotees who express their faith through generous offerings.
