Ganjam Police cracked open an interstate drug smuggling operation recently after seizing 100 kg of ganja from a hidden chamber inside an SUV and arresting the four people behind it.
The tip-off led Badagada Police straight to a Ford Endeavour that had been fitted with a specially built secret compartment the kind of job that takes planning and intent. The drugs were packed inside it, out of plain sight. Two Apache motorcycles linked to the operation were seized as well.
It turned out the gang had picked up the ganja from Naktiri village right here in Ganjam and were on their way to Gujarat via Berhampur when police caught up with them.
The four arrested are Muralidhara Sethi (40), of Kadalibada Sahi, Near Haridakhandi, Berhampur; Gopal Gamanga (54), and Mikhal Gamanga (40) of Naktiri Village, PS Badagada; and Esha Jani (28), of Ghasi Amba, PS Pattapur, Ganjam.
The case has been registered as Badagada P.S. Case No. 244 dated 28.06.2026 under Sections 20(b)(ii)(C) and 29 of the NDPS Act. All four have been forwarded to the Court.
