A powerful lightning bolt could not break her spirit. Despite being seriously injured during a field visit, Booth Level Officer Pramila Ojha of Kendrapara’s Booth No. 187 refused to let anything come in the way of her duty.
While carrying out field inspections as part of the ongoing special intensive revision of electoral rolls, Pramila Ojha and her daughter were struck by a severe lightning bolt. Both sustained serious injuries, and her mobile phone was completely destroyed. She had to be hospitalised for treatment.
What happened next has left everyone inspired. The moment she recovered and was discharged, Pramila Ojha returned to work, ignoring her physical pain. With unwavering determination, she completed the 100% digitization of all enumeration forms under her responsibility — and did so well before the deadline.
Her extraordinary commitment has drawn high praise from Chief Electoral Officer R.S. Gopalan, who lauded her unmatched dedication and sense of duty. Kendrapara Sub-Collector and Electoral Registration Officer Arun Kumar Naik also appreciated her efforts on behalf of the administration and presented her with a new mobile phone as a token of support and encouragement.
Pramila Ojha’s story is more than just an act of personal courage — it is a shining example of true public service. In an age where duty often takes a backseat, her resilience and selflessness have become a powerful source of inspiration for government employees across Odisha.
