Additional Chief Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development Department, Usha Padhee, IAS, today undertook a comprehensive field visit to Paradip Municipality to review the progress of key infrastructure and public welfare projects being implemented in the town.

The visit was aimed at accelerating urban development and further strengthening the delivery of civic services.

As part of the inspection, Padhee visited the municipal Waste Management Centre, where she reviewed the city’s solid waste management system, waste processing operations, and environmentally sustainable disposal practices. She advised officials to leverage modern technologies and best practices to further improve sanitation and transform Paradip into a cleaner, greener, and healthier urban centre.

She also inspected the site earmarked for the proposed Convention Centre and held detailed discussions with departmental officials on the project’s design, infrastructure requirements, and implementation schedule. Stressing the importance of timely execution, she directed that the project be completed within the stipulated timeframe without compromising on quality standards.

In a notable gesture, the Additional Chief Secretary visited the Aahar Centre, where she had lunch alongside members of the public. She personally assessed the quality of food, cleanliness, hygiene, and service delivery at the centre. Expressing satisfaction over the affordable and nutritious meals being served under the Aahar initiative, she instructed officials to consistently maintain high standards of food quality, sanitation, and customer service.

Later, during a review meeting with officials, Padhee assessed the progress of various ongoing development projects in Paradip Municipality. She directed all concerned departments to ensure efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric delivery of civic services while adhering to the highest standards of quality and accountability. She further instructed officials to expedite all ongoing works and complete them within the prescribed timelines.

The Executive Officer of Paradip Municipality, senior officers of the Housing & Urban Development Department, engineers, and other municipal officials were present during the visit.
