In a significant move to accelerate industrial growth across Eastern India, Odisha Chief Minister interacted with top industry leaders at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Eastern Region Council Meeting today — the first time the prestigious gathering was hosted in the state.
The high-profile event brought together over 230 industry representatives, including 55 CII Eastern Region Council members from Bihar, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. Prominent companies such as Jupiter Wagons Ltd, Shyam Metallics, CESC Green Energy, Ambuja Neotia Group, Kobelco, and Luxmi Group were among those actively participating.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister declared that the rise of Eastern India will be pivotal to India’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, with Odisha ready to serve as the region’s platform for scale, collaboration, and robust value-chain development.
Game-Changing Announcements
In a major policy push, the Chief Minister announced an amendment to the Industrial Policy Resolution 2022. Eligible non-mineral-based new industrial units in 15 industrially less-developed districts will now be treated as Thrust Sector units.
This landmark decision aims to attract fresh investments, promote balanced regional growth, and generate employment in districts that have historically remained outside mainstream industrial corridors.

The second major announcement was the launch of GO-EAST (Eastern Investment Accelerator & Special Taskforce) — a dedicated single-window facilitation framework designed specifically to attract and fast-track investments from Eastern and North-Eastern India. The initiative will offer priority clearances, dedicated relationship management, and structured problem resolution for strategic projects.
Strong Investor Confidence
The event witnessed the signing of seven MoUs across key sectors, including steel, metal downstream, textiles, power, green energy equipment, and chemicals. These agreements carry a total investment potential of ₹24,823 crore and are expected to generate employment for nearly 29,500 people.
The Minister for Industries & Skill Development, Sampad Chandra Swain, also urged CII members to collaborate on three strategic fronts: attracting anchor investors, integrating MSMEs into global supply chains, and skilling the youth for future-ready jobs.
“Regional growth will be driven by regional strength and cooperation. Odisha is ready to be your platform for scale,” the Chief Minister emphasised, inviting industry leaders to build stronger industrial corridors and deeper supply chains together.
