A road accident involving a car and a motorcycle near INOX in Bhubaneswar’s Saheed Nagar area sparked tension on Saturday after angry locals allegedly assaulted the occupants of the car.

According to reports, the accident occurred when a car, reportedly travelling at high speed, collided with a motorcycle on a busy stretch of road. The incident caused panic among bystanders and briefly disrupted traffic movement in the area.

Motorcyclist Escapes Major Injury

The motorcyclist reportedly had a narrow escape despite the impact of the collision.

Eyewitnesses said the accident could have resulted in serious injuries, but the rider managed to avoid major harm. However, the crash triggered a large gathering of local residents at the scene.

Locals Allegedly Assault Driver and Co-Passenger

Following the accident, tensions escalated as a crowd gathered around the vehicle.

The car driver, who was allegedly suspected by locals of driving under the influence of alcohol, was reportedly assaulted by some members of the crowd. Another youth travelling in the car was also allegedly beaten during the commotion.

The situation remained tense for some time before normalcy was restored.

Investigation Into Incident Underway

Authorities are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the accident, including the cause of the collision and allegations regarding the driver’s condition at the time of the incident.

Officials have not yet confirmed whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol, and further investigation is likely to determine the facts.
