In a forward-looking initiative marking two years of the state government, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi engaged directly with Odisha’s vibrant community of social media influencers and digital creators at the Lok Seva Bhawan Convention Centre.

CM Majhi described them as powerful “Digital Ambassadors” for a developed India and a prosperous Odisha, and the future “Opinion Leaders” who can shape young minds.

Addressing the gathering, CM Majhi emphasised the critical role of digital creators in nation-building. “Regardless of your ideology, ‘Nation First’ must be the guiding principle,” he said. He drew a clear distinction between criticising the government and disrespecting the country: “You can criticise the government, but criticising the government should never become an excuse to insult the nation. That is never acceptable.”

The Chief Minister cautioned creators against cheap, sensational, or negative content that could mislead youth. He warned that controversial posts on social media often land young people in unnecessary trouble and ruin their futures. Instead, he urged them to use their platforms to highlight the government’s various public welfare schemes and bring them closer to the people. “Content should not be limited to chasing views or providing a few seconds of entertainment,” Majhi said. “It must carry a healthy message for society.” He encouraged creators to move away from clickbait and the lure of cheap popularity towards purpose-driven content that inspires and uplifts.

Expressing concern over the mental health challenges faced by Gen-Z, the CM noted that today’s youth are smart and creative but often overwhelmed by information overload, identity struggles, and online negativity. “One impactful reel or video from an influencer has the power to change the mindset of thousands of young people,” he added.

Highlighting Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, Majhi reminded creators that the land of Lord Jagannath teaches “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” — the world is one family. He advised against creating dangerous stunts, harmful challenges, or content that spreads communal discord merely for TRP ratings. He also called for vigilance against fake news and misinformation.

The interactive session, organised by the Department of Information & Public Relations, saw participation from prominent personalities, educationists, health experts, artists, and literary figures alongside numerous social media influencers.

Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, Director Anuj Kumar Das Pattnaik, and senior officials were present to ensure the programme’s success.

The event underscored the Odisha government’s commitment to partnering with digital voices to build a positive, progressive, and culturally rooted narrative for the state.
