Puri Police arrested seven accused in connection with the brutal murder of a youth at Narasinghapatana village under Sadar police limits, restoring peace after overnight tension.
The victim, Lipu alias Kalu Jena of Jagannathapatana, was killed on May 24 when assailants slit his throat with a sharp weapon. Superintendent of Police, Puri, personally supervised the operation and deployed additional forces to maintain law and order.
Police teams conducted sustained raids and intelligence-based operations, arresting seven prime accused — Aniya Mania (19), Mantu Das (19), Dibakar Das (22), Ghantanu Dhal (20), Prashanta Sethi (22), Rakesh Behera (19), and Santosh Kumar Das (27) — all residents of Narasinghapatana.
Investigators seized a knife, an iron rod, a wooden plank, beer bottles, mobile phones, and six motorcycles used in the crime. The scientific team examined the scene and collected forensic evidence. The accused led police to the murder weapon during interrogation.
SP Puri confirmed that the arrests were made within 24 hours of the incident. He said police acted swiftly to prevent escalation and ensure justice. The accused were produced in court today.
Puri Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and taking strict legal action against all involved in criminal activities.
