India held on to the number one position in the ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings after the annual update, despite losing one rating point.

The Shubman Gill-led side lead the table with 118 points, five ahead of second-placed New Zealand.

The International Cricket Council confirmed that India remain at the top of the ODI standings. New Zealand follow with 113 points, while Australia stay third with 109 points. South Africa climbed into the top four with 102 points, overtaking Pakistan, who dropped to fifth with 98 points. Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and England retained their places in the top eight. Bangladesh stayed ninth, ahead of the West Indies.

The annual update applied full weightage to matches played since May 2025 and half weightage to results from the previous two years. This recalibration sharpened the race for direct qualification to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.

According to ICC rules, the top eight teams in the ODI rankings as of March 31, 2027, will qualify directly for the tournament, joining hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe. If South Africa remain inside the top eight, the ninth-ranked team could also secure direct entry.

Ireland moved ahead of Zimbabwe into 11th place, while the USA overtook Scotland to rise to 13th. UAE climbed to 19th after surpassing Canada.
