Odia cinema has received a major theatrical boost with the release of Mantra Muugdha, a high-concept film that combines scale, ambition, and experimentation.
Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Anupam Patnaik and backed by Amiya Patnaik Productions, the film marks one of the most expansive releases in recent regional cinema.
Opening across 29 cities in Odisha—including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Rourkela—the film has also reached audiences beyond the state with screenings in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune.

A defining feature of the film is its atmospheric setting at the historic Dharakote Palace. Shot over nearly 45–50 days, the palace’s centuries-old architecture and eerie ambiance play a crucial role in shaping the film’s mood.
