The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation has increased milk prices by ₹4 per litre across Odisha, with the revised rates coming into effect from today.

Under the new pricing structure, toned milk will now be sold at ₹54 per litre, up from ₹50. Premium milk has been revised to ₹58 per litre from ₹54, while Gold Premium milk will cost ₹60 per litre, compared to the earlier ₹56. Additionally, Gold Premium Plus milk is now priced at ₹64 per litre, up from ₹60.

Consumers purchasing smaller packs will also see a hike, with half-litre milk packets now costing ₹29, compared to the previous price of ₹27.

The price revision comes shortly after OMFED increased procurement rates for dairy farmers. Effective from May 1, 2026, milk producers are now being paid ₹39.05 per litre, up from ₹38.05. The move is expected to benefit nearly three lakh dairy farmers associated with the cooperative.

OMFED officials said the dual hike in procurement and retail prices was driven by rising input costs, including cattle feed, fodder, veterinary medicines, and overall maintenance expenses. These factors have also impacted milk production levels across the state.

The revision aims to strike a balance between supporting farmers and managing supply challenges, though it may add to the financial burden on consumers.
