A tragic incident occurred in Jarada village under Gurundia block of Bonai subdivision on Sunday when a teacher collapsed while conducting census work.
The deceased, identified as Anurag Ekka, served as an assistant teacher at Jarada Government Primary School.
Anurag was engaged in official census duties when he suddenly fell unconscious due to extreme heat. Locals rushed him to the nearby health centre for treatment, but doctors confirmed that he had died of heatstroke.
Sources said Anurag hailed from Balishankar in Sundargarh district. His sudden death during government duty has shocked the local community and fellow teachers. Residents described the day’s temperature as unbearable, with many struggling under the scorching sun.
