Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh called on India to lead the world in critical and emerging technologies, asserting that technological capability will define national strength in the coming decades.

Addressing the PAN-IIT Alumni Conference in Los Angeles virtually, he said India must evolve from a technology consumer to a global innovator.

Dr. Singh highlighted India’s transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing progress in space, biotechnology, and deep-tech startups. He described the Indian diaspora, especially IIT alumni, as vital connectors between India and global innovation ecosystems. Their contributions through investment, mentorship, and collaboration continue to strengthen India’s development trajectory.

He emphasised that emerging domains such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, robotics, and quantum technologies are crucial for national security, economic resilience, and global competitiveness. He urged deeper collaboration among academia, industry, and government to build a robust innovation framework.

Dr. Singh referred to the launch of the Sajjan Agarwal School of Technology at Rishihood University as an example of diaspora-led institution building. He said such initiatives reflect a commitment to linking education with entrepreneurship and real-world applications.

Calling for stronger partnerships, he invited IIT alumni to mentor startups, invest in research, and collaborate with Indian institutions. He expressed confidence that India will achieve the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047 while contributing significantly to global progress.
