A momentous day unfolded at the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy as the 13th batch of Cadet Sub-Inspectors marked the completion of their training with a grand passing-out parade.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended as the chief guest, welcoming 336 newly inducted Sub-Inspectors—including 70 women—into active service following two years of rigorous indoor and outdoor training.
Highlighting the substantial presence of women officers, CM Majhi described their inclusion as a vibrant reflection of women’s empowerment and the changing social landscape of Odisha. He emphasized that the uniform symbolizes constitutional authority and social duty, calling on officers to use their power to deliver justice to vulnerable sections of society under the core mantra of “Service and Protection.”
The Chief Minister praised the force’s evolving technological capabilities in tackling modern threats like cyber fraud and acknowledged the complete suppression of Maoist and Naxal violence in the state through strategic guidance from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Outlining key governance goals, CM Majhi reiterated the state’s firm resolve to make Odisha drug-free by 2029 and stressed that maintaining law and order is crucial for industrial growth and long-term prosperity. Over the past two years, 17,794 new police positions were created and 5,817 filled, along with upgraded operational support for police stations statewide.
CM Majhi urged the new officers to adopt SMART POLICING and offered three core principles for their career:
- Maintain zero tolerance toward corruption.
- Uphold the highest standard of discipline in uniform.
- Protect the innocent without abusing power while dealing strictly with criminals.
During the event, top-performing cadets were awarded for excellence. Cadet P. Nalini Rao received the prestigious Governor’s Medal, a trophy, and a cash reward of ₹10,000 for securing top honors. Outstanding cadet awards were also presented to Tejaswini Mohantaray, Judhisthira Behera, Laxman Kumar Mahanta, Sasmita Khuntia, Niharika Tripathy, and Asutosh Nayak.
Director General of Police Vinaytosh Mishra urged officers to serve with courage and integrity while addressing technological challenges. Biju Patnaik State Police Academy Director and Inspector General of Police Anup Kumar Sahu delivered the welcome address and annual report. Senior police personnel, trainers, family members, and media representatives attended the landmark ceremony.
