Sai Sudharsan Becomes Fastest Batter to 2000 IPL Runs, Breaks Chris Gayle’s Record

In a remarkable feat during the IPL 2026 clash between Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sai Sudharsan etched his name in the record books by becoming the fastest batter to reach 2,000 runs in the Indian Premier League.


The young opener achieved the milestone in just 47 innings, surpassing the previous record held by Chris Gayle, who took 48 innings to reach the landmark.


Record-Breaking Knock Powers Gujarat Titans

Coming into the match needing 72 runs, Sudharsan delivered under pressure with a composed and impactful innings. His consistency and aggressive stroke play have been key to Gujarat Titans’ batting strength this season.

Before this match, Sudharsan had already amassed 1,928 runs in 46 innings, maintaining an impressive average of 45.90 and a strike rate of 145.83, including two centuries and 13 half-centuries.

Earlier in the game, RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to bowl first at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Gujarat Titans got off to a solid start, with Sudharsan anchoring the innings and setting the tone for a competitive total.
