The ongoing inventory of the Ratna Bhandar at Jagannath Temple has reached a significant milestone, with officials confirming that no discrepancies have been identified so far.

The enumeration exercise completed its ninth day on Saturday, marking steady progress in the detailed verification of temple valuables.

Authorities stated that the findings to date are fully consistent with historical records, reinforcing confidence in the integrity of the inventory process.

Counting Timeline and Next Phase

The inventory work, which began on March 25, has so far recorded a total of 57 hours and 8 minutes of counting over nine days. Officials indicated that the process will now pause temporarily in accordance with temple rituals.

The next phase is expected to resume during the Bhitara Chandan Yatra, likely on or after May 11, following the completion of the Bahara Chandan Yatra. Revised working hours may be allocated for the continuation of the process.

Alignment with Historical Records

Officials confirmed that all ornaments examined so far—comprising gold items and precious gemstones—match the entries listed in the 1978 inventory. Each item has been verified using its designated serial number, ensuring accuracy and transparency.

This alignment with past records is being seen as a crucial validation of the inventory exercise.

Documentation and Technical Support

As part of the process, the first chest within the Ratna Bhandar has been fully counted and sealed. Enumeration of the second and third chests is ongoing, with the third chest currently in use.

To enhance accuracy, gemologists have been engaged to assist in identifying and verifying gemstones. Additionally, advanced documentation methods, including photography, videography, and 3D mapping, have been completed to create a comprehensive digital record of the valuables.

Focus on Transparency and Continuity

Officials emphasised that the exercise is being conducted with a strong focus on transparency, accuracy, and adherence to established protocols. The remaining inventory work will continue in the next phase after the scheduled break.
